Frequently asked questions.

General Services

What types of services does Summit Consultants offer?

Summit Consultants provides expert guidance and hands-on support across construction project planning, scheduling, cost control, contract reviews, site inspections, and more. Whether you need short-term project coverage or strategic oversight, we bring over 40 years of field-tested expertise.

Do I need to be in Utah to work with you?

Not at all. While we're based near Park City, Utah, we support projects nationwide. Our team can travel or consult remotely, ensuring you're covered wherever your project is located.

Project-Specific Support

Can you step in if our project manager quits or we’re short-staffed?

Yes, that’s our specialty! We offer interim project leadership that can hit the ground running with minimal onboarding, so you don’t lose momentum or money.

Do you build project schedules from scratch?

Absolutely. We can develop full project schedules in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, audit your existing schedules, or train your staff to manage them independently.

Contracts & Negotiations

Can you help us negotiate a better construction contract?

We don’t provide legal advice, but we help you understand where you might be vulnerable to risk or inflated costs. Our insight helps you negotiate smarter, and avoid traps buried in the fine print.

What if I already hired a contractor? Can you still help?

Yes. We can review change orders, track overbilling, and ensure accountability; even mid-project.

Cost Control & Change Orders

How do you know if an estimate or change order is fair?

We’ve reviewed hundreds of them. With our experience, we can spot padded numbers, duplicated charges, and indirect cost creep. We’ll break it down so you know exactly what’s fair.

Can you represent us in contractor negotiations?

Yes. We can act as your owner’s representative or advisor during negotiations to ensure you’re not overpaying or being misled.

Construction Oversight

What does a site inspection from Summit Consultants include?

A full walk-through of the project site, documented punch lists, identification of code or safety issues, and a rapid-turnaround report you can trust…often within 24 hours..

How do I know if our GC or CM is qualified?

We perform deep evaluations, including financial health, safety records, project history, and reputation among subcontractors and suppliers. We’ll give you a clear picture.

Getting Started

How do I start working with Summit Consultants?

Simple. Just contact us through the website or give us a call. We’ll schedule a free 30-minute consultation to understand your needs and recommend the right path forward.

How much notice do you need for project support?

The more notice, the better; especially for contracts longer than a week. But if it’s urgent, we’ll do our best to step in fast.
